DOT's Transport Strategy May Take Trucks Off Roads

The U.S. Department of Transportation said it plans to develop a national freight transportation strategy to boost economic competitiveness balanced with safety, livability and environmental sustainability. The plan could involve an attempt to remove trucks from the nation's highways by shifting freight to railroads, according to a draft of the DOTs strategic plan for 2010-2015.
