Truckers want ring road pronto

The Trans-Canada Highway through Medicine Hat is a thorn in the side of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and its 4,500 carriers coast to coast.

In December, the CTA placed the need for a ring road around Medicine Hat on its list of areas of national infrastructure that need attention now. The to-do list — aimed at helping governments set spending priorities and improve transportation and trade efficiencies — was compiled with the help of provincial and regional trucking associations across the country.

Carl Rosenau, president of the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA), said Medicine Hat is one of the worst cities in Canada when it comes to highway traffic flow…
